TORONTO SUN: The Maple Leafs will be participating in a four-team rookie tournament in September in London, Ontario

OTTAWA CITIZEN: The Senators will also participate in this tournament. The other participants will be the Pittsburgh Penguins and Chicago Blackhawks.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: These tournaments provide the first glimpse for fans of their respective teams’ promising young talent. Last September’s tournaments were cancelled because of the impending lockout.

LA PRESSE: The Montreal Canadiens have fired goaltender coach Pierre Groulx. He’d been with the club since July 2009.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Given the inconsistency of Habs starter Carey Price, it’s not surprising Groulx lost his job. It’ll be interesting to see who the Canadiens hire as his replacement.

EDMONTON JOURNAL: Bruce McCurdy makes the case for the Oilers to retain center Jerred Smithson.
