NHL Canadian Corner – May 14, 2014

Updates on the Canadiens-Bruins series,  the latest on Jason Spezza and Jeff Petry, plus the Canucks could use Tim Burke’s scouting savvy.

MONTREAL GAZETTE/BOSTON GLOBE: The Canadiens and Bruins are gearing up for the final game of their best-of-seven series tonight in Boston. The winner will go on to face the New York Rangers in the Eastern Conference Final.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Regardless of which club wins, I expect it’ll be another dramatic end to yet another chapter in this long-running rivalry between these two clubs. It’s been a very entertaining series so far.

Why would Jason Spezza welcome a trade?

Why would Jason Spezza welcome a trade?

OTTAWA SUN: Bruce Garrioch analyzes how Senators captain Jason Spezza would welcome a trade only a year away from his eligibility for free agency.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: For the second straight year the Senators could be watching another captain leave town, albeit this time via trade. That likely means the end of Ales Hemsky brief tenure with the Senators, and it could raise questions over Bobby Ryan’s future with the club. Suddenly, a Senators club which only a year ago had such a bright future faces uncertainty heading toward next season.

EDMONTON JOURNAL: The Oilers’ contract talks with defenseman Jeff Petry could be interesting. Though he was their best all-around blueliner, Petry’s game has yet to fully develop.

VANCOUVER PROVINCE: Ben Kuzma advocates the Canucks hire San Jose Sharks director of scouting Tim Burke as either general manager or in a front office role.

  1. Go Habs Go!!!

I feel that even though a loss to the bruins would hurt, it’s still been a awesome season for the team and the direction of the team is positive so I’m going to just try and enjoy entertainment. Got the dog in his Habs jersey, 6mth old son too. I’ll have mine on soon enough and hopefully not for the last time this season. :)

Lyle, can you give a Go Habs Go! for all us Habs fans! :)

Also, not surprised by the sens. I felt they had overachieved huge last year and rode a out of his mind hot goalie as far as he could go. This season Anderson and Lehner played like their careers would indicate they should and it showed.

Anyways, Go Habs Go! Hopefully the GWG belongs to Subban!!!

    • Your dog’s jersey worked!

  2. I really think Toronto is in bad shape, listening to the new guru he likes the same coach, pretty well all the same players? SO MISS THE PLAYOFFS AGAIN
