OTTAWA SUN: The Senators dropped their fourth in a row, losing 2-1 to the Florida Panthers. Cory Conacher scored the Senators lone goal.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: The Senators remain sixth overall in the East, just two points up on the NY Rangers and NY Islanders.

THE GLOBE AND MAIL: The NHL yesterday officially confirmed the 2014 Winter Classic game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings will be held at Michigan Stadium for January 1, 2014. The contest was originally scheduled for January 1, 2013, but was cancelled due to the NHL lockout.

WINNIPEG SUN: It’s been a weird week for Jets defenseman Dustin Byfuglien, who played just 17.48 in the Jets 4-1 win over Philadelphia on Saturday, and spent a few shifts earlier in the week on the wing.

VANCOUVER PROVINCE: Canucks goalie Cory Schneider has maintained a happy balance of his professional and personal life.

EDMONTON JOURNAL: Oilers captain Shawn Horcoff calls for more intensity from his club when they face off against the Anaheim Ducks tonight.

MONTREAL GAZETTE: Jack Todd believes hiring Michel Therrien was the best move first-year Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin made this season. Todd makes the case for Therrien to be named NHL coach of the year.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: I was against the Habs bringing back Therrien, but what he’s accomplished with the Canadiens this season is impressive, taking a dysfunctional 28th overall team and turning it into one of the top teams in the league. Therrien has matured and mellowed, and the results so far speak for themselves.

CALGARY SUN: Among the five questions facing the Calgary Flames this week: “Who’s playing for a contract?”
