WINNIPEG SUN: Andrew Ladd and Devin Setoguchi scored in a shootout as the Jets downed the Detroit Red Wings 3-2 to pick up their third straight win.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: The Jets are on a bit of a roll right now, as this is the first time this season they’ve won three straight games.

MONTREAL GAZETTE: Carey Price made 44 saves in a losing cause as the Canadiens fell 2-1 in a shootout against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Earlier in the day, it was revealed contract talks between Canadiens management and P.K. Subban’s agent Don Meehan had begun.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Subban’s contract negotiations could be among the most-watched throughout this season. 

OTTAWA CITIZEN: The Philadelphia Flyers gave Senators goalie Craig Anderson a rough welcome back as the Senators were blanked 5-0.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Could this be the start of the dreaded “goaltending controversy” in Ottawa?

CALGARY HERALD: The out-played Flames battled back from a 2-0 deficit to force overtime against the San Jose Sharks, only to fall in overtime 3-2.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: The Flames are rebuilding but they’re serving notice they won’t be an easy two points this season.

  1. Goaltending didn’t sink the Senator’s last night it was the complete lack of effort by the whole team. The players should be ashamed of themselves.

    • I agree, however Anderson shouldn’t have been in net. I know he is the defacto starter, but Lehner has been lights out and earned that net until he had a bad game to ease Anderson back in.
