Recaps of games involving Canadian NHL teams, Evander Kane’s offensive struggles, and a review of the Flames at the season’s quarter-mark.

TORONTO STAR: David Clarkson scored his first goal of the season and call-up Trevor Smith had a three-point night as the Maple Leafs downed the New York Islanders 5-2.

Max Pacioretty (center) celebrates one of his three goals against the Wild.

MONTREAL GAZETTE: Max Pacioretty scored a natural hat trick and David Desharnais collected a pair of assists to lift the Montreal Canadiens to a 6-2 win over the Minnesota Wild.

EDMONTON SUN: David Perron had a four-point game as the Oilers pounded the Columbus Blue Jackets 7-0.

OTTAWA CITIZEN: Goals by Kimmo Timonen and Wayne Simmonds 23 seconds apart snapped a 2-2 tie and lifted the Philadelphia Flyers to a 5-2 win over the struggling Ottawa Senators.

VANCOUVER SUN: Canucks coach John Tortorella ripped his club’s performance following a 3-2 shootout loss to the Florida Panthers, calling the loss his club’s worst game of the season.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: The Canucks are really struggling to score lately, which could force management into the trade market if they’re not already shopping around for a scorer.

WINNIPEG FREE PRESS: Jets forward Evander Kane hasn’t scored in nine games but he’s still generating plenty of shots and scoring chances.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Kane’s slump has sparked some trade rumors but I don’t believe the Jets will move him. It’s only a matter of time until he breaks through this slump.

CALGARY SUN: Randy Sportak looks at the good and bad of the Flames performance at the season’s quarter point.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: While the Flames won’t be playoff contenders this season, they’ve had a better start to this season than many observers predicted.

Tallon lit a fire under those Panthers. Wins over my Avs then the Canucks

  2. JJB says:

No mention about the worst no call goal in NHL history, that totally deflated the Senators and gave all the momentum to the Flyers?
