CALGARY HERALD: The Flames introduced Mark Giordano as their new captain, with Curtis Glencross and Mike Cammalleri serving as alternates.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Not a shocking choice. Giordano isn’t a big star and franchise player like his predecessor Jarome Iginla, but he is well-respected by his teammates.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Pageau’s tenacity and work ethic should help him earn a regular roster spot.

EDMONTON JOURNAL: David Staples lists what must go well for the Oilers to make the playoffs.

VANCOUVER SUN: Time is running out for promising Canucks youngsters like Bo Horvat, Hunter Shinkaruk, Brendan Gaunce and Nicklas Jensen to earn a roster spot.
