The latest on Zach Bogosian, Brad Marchand, Teemu Selanne, Petr Sykora, Anton Stralman, Steve Bernier, Sergei Samsonov and Brad Winchester.
WINNIPEG SUN: Ted Wyman reports Jets defenseman Zach Bogosian is skating with his teammates, which appears to be a good sign the team will get him re-signed in the near future. Bogosian said he wouldn’t have been there if he didn’t want to be there, saying he felt it was important to get into a routine and get to know the new people on the club. Wyman dismissed the trade rumors which swirled about Bogosian this summer, including a silly one tying him to Montreal’s Scott Gomez. He also noted the Jets want to re-sign Bogosian, he wants to stay, and they have the cap space and flexibility to get him re-signed.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: In my opinion, Bogosian’s not going anywhere.
BOSTON GLOBE: Kevin Paul Dupont reports Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli declined to comment on the status of contract negotiations with the agent for winger Brad Marchand. Dupont noted a recent Ottawa Sun report suggesting the Bruins were shopping Marchand, and also claimed there’s rumors of the Bruins offering “something in the $2 million a year bracket” and Marchand seeking twice that.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: If Marchand is actually seeking $4 million or more per season, then like Kyle Turris in Phoenix, he’s dreaming in technicolor. I expect he’ll get at most a three-year, $2.5 million per season deal.
ESPN.COM’s Pierre LeBrun “tweeted” Teemu Selanne could decide by Friday, when Anaheim Ducks training camp opens, if he’ll return this season.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Of those three, I think Stralman stands the best chance of making the club, as they might feel the need to add another veteran puck-mover defenseman to their blueline.
ESPN.COM’s Katie Strang reported via Twitter Sergei Samsonov’s agent said the NY Islanders had expressed interest in his client but the two sides haven’t spoken recently and that interest might now be dead.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: It’s believed Samsonov wants a contract, not a training camp invite. He could be in for a long wait.
TSN’s Bob McKenzie reports via Twitter Brad Winchester is going to San Jose Sharks training camp on a tryout basis.
