Lupul upset over potential cancellation of Winter Classic.

TORONTO SUN: Maple Leafs forward Joffrey Lupul cited the potential cancellation of the 2013 Winter Classic as one of the low points so far in this NHL lockout. Lupul and his teammates were slated to face the Detroit Red Wings on New Year’s Day at the University of Michigan’s “Big House”.

LA PRESSE: Montreal Canadiens winger Erik Cole is growing more pessimistic over a season-saving resolution, anticipating an eventual cancellation of the season.

EDMONTON JOURNAL: Oilers forward Taylor Hall will be playing with the Oklahoma City Barons during their game against the Houston Aeros on Friday.

SPORTSNET: Ottawa Senators owner Eugene Melnyk offered up what is likely his “league-approved” opinion of the NHL CBA standoff. “Everybody can finger point all they want but at the end of the day I don’t think anybody cares who’s at fault, all they know is we’re not playing hockey,” Melnyk said.
