Eager facing charges after bar fight in Toronto.

CITYNEWS TORONTO: Edmonton Oilers tough guy Ben Eager and his brother, Michael, are facing charges following an alleged bar fight in Toronto.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Security video reportedly captured the fight, which could prove incriminating for the Eager brothers. For now, however, we must assume innocence until proven guilty.

MONTREAL GAZETTE: Hockey Night in Canada personality Don Cherry likes the additions made this summer by the Montreal Canadiens, particularly former Leaf Colby Armstrong, and believes the Habs success depends upon the performance of goalie Carey Price and defenseman Andrei Markov.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: I agree for the most part with Cherry’s assessment, especially the part about the Habs need for more grit, which they addressed this summer.

CALGARY SUN: Eric Francis reports the Calgary Flames brain trust are closely watching the Edmonton arena situation in hopes of avoiding any pitfalls when they eventually table their own plans for a new arena.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Trying not to squeeze more concessions out of the city after agreeing to a deal would be the biggest pitfall to avoid.

  1. Hi Lyle,

By “trying not to squeeze”, surely you mean “not trying to squeeze”?
