NHL Lockout Canadian Corner – October 23, 2012.

Updates on Jason Garrison, Justin Schultz and Ben Eager, plus a look at where the Ottawa Senators roster are scattered during the lockout.

VANCOUVER PROVINCE: Canucks defenseman Jason Garrison hopes to be recovered from his groin injury in time for November 2, if the NHL schedule starts up by then.

Schultz having impressive AHL debut.

THE AHL: Promising Edmonton Oilers defenseman Justin Schultz was named the AHL player of the week.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: And now we know what Anaheim Ducks fans were so ticked over Schultz becoming a UFA this summer and signing with the Oilers. Granted, it’s the AHL, one level below the NHL, and Schultz hasn’t proven anything yet on the big stage, but his AHL debut has been very impressive so far, which is a good sign for Oilers fans dreaming of Schultz becoming that stud blueliner their club has been lacking since Chris Pronger left town.

THE GLOBE AND MAIL: Speaking of the Oilers, Ben Eager will be in court on November 26 to face assault charges stemming from a bar brawl in Toronto over the weekend.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Remember, gang, innocent until proven guilty.
