NEW YORK POST: Rick Nash’s goal late in the third period lifted the New York Rangers to a 2-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres, ensuring the Rangers secure home ice advantage for the first round of the playoffs.

TAMPA TRIBUNE: Anders Lindback made 34 saves and Steven Stamkos collected two points as the Tampa Bay Lightning doubled up the Philadelphia Flyers 4-2, moving within one point of the Montreal Canadiens for second in the Atlantic Division.

WASHINGTON POST: Troy Brouwer scored twice as the Capitals defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 5-2.

SPECTOR’S  NOTE: Games involving Canadian NHL teams are recapped in “Canadian Corner”. The Lightning hold a game in hand over the Canadiens, giving them a good opportunity to finish the season second in the Atlantic Division and with home ice advantage in their upcoming playoff series against the Habs.  Losing to the Predators could prove fatal to the Coyotes slim playoff hopes. They’re two points behind the Dallas Stars for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Both clubs have two games remaining. The Coyotes must win their next two and hope the Stars drop both of theirs.
