DENVER POST: Gabriel Landeskog scored twice, including in overtime, as the Colorado Avalanche rallied from a 2-0 deficit to down the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-2.

STLTODAY.COM: Ryan Miller made 31 saves as the St. Louis Blues blanked the Philadelphia Flyers 1-0 in a shootout.

DALLAS MORNING NEWS: Dustin Jeffrey scored twice and Kari Lehtonen made 35 saves as the Dallas Stars shut out the Washington Capitals 5-0.

THE BUFFALO NEWS: Ville Leino tallied the winner in a shootout as the Buffalo Sabres edged the New Jersey Devils 3-2. The Devils are 0-11 in shootouts.

NEWSOBSERVER.COM: Elias Lindholm scored twice as the Carolina Hurricanes upset the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-1. Penguins captain Sidney Crosby picked up an assist to reach 100 points this season.

NEWSDAY: Matt Martin scored the game winner and Mike Halmo tallied his first of the season as the NY Islanders doubled up the Florida Panthers 4-2.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: The Stars win moves them into a tie with the Phoenix Coyotes but the Stars currently hold the final playoff berth on the basis of having a game in hand. The Capitals loss leaves them two points out of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The Blue Jackets remain a point ahead of Toronto and two up on Washington. The Devils remain three points out of contention. 

MLIVE.COM: Boston’s Jarome Iginla, Detroit’s Gustav Nyquist and Philadelphia’s Claude Giroux were the NHL’s stars of the week for last week.

DETROIT NEWS: Red Wings star Pavel Datsyuk (knee) hopes to return to action either Wednesday against Boston or Friday against Buffalo.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Datsyuk’s return should provide the Red Wings with a welcome boost to their playoff hopes.
