DETROIT FREE PRESS: The Red Wings yesterday announced the re-signing of general manager Ken Holland to a four-year contract.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Holland’s will be discussing a new contract soon with head coach Mike Babcock. He also has to re-sign defenseman Danny DeKeyser and hopes to re-sign Daniel Alfredsson if he decides to return this season. 

THE TENNESSEAN: Nashville Predators new coach Peter Laviolette intends to stick with just two assistant coaches this season.

TRIBLIVE.COM/POST-GAZETTE.COM: Jeff Zatkoff and Thomas Greiss will be contending for the Penguins backup goalie position.

NBC SPORTS: New Jersey Devils forward Mattias Tendenby has signed with HV 71 of the Swedish Elite League.
