Blackhawks Cup parade in Chicago today, Mark Messier leaves the Rangers, Vincent Lecavalier’s departure will be felt in Tampa Bay, the latest on the Coyotes saga, the latest contract signings and more.

CHICAGO SUN-TIMES: The Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup victory parade kicks off today at the United Center at 11 am local time.

Mark Messier leaves the Rangers.

Mark Messier leaves the Rangers.

NHL.COM: The New York Rangers yesterday announced Mark Messier has left the team to pursue other options.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Put simply, Messier was disappointed he was passed over for the head coaching job. Rangers GM Glen Sather, however, made the right move by hiring former Canucks coach Alain Vigneault. Messier has no professional coaching experience and thus wasn’t qualified for the job.

ESPN.COM: Scott Burnside reports Tampa Bay will miss now-former captain Vincent Lecavalier for more than his contributions to the Lightning. Lecavalier was active in the local community and was honored for his charitable work.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Buying out Lecavalier wasn’t something the Lightning front office wanted to do, but with limited cap space, they had no choice.

TWINCITIES.COM: The Minnesota Wild hope to re-sign Jason Pominville, who has one year left on his contract. Pominville hopes to prove his worth next season.

THE TENNESSEAN: If Portland Winterhawks defenseman Seth Jones remains available when the Nashville Predators rise to make their selection (fourth overall) in this year’s draft, GM David Poile admitted he would select him, considering Jones the best player in the draft.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: It’s possible Jones could slide that far, but I still believe either Florida (second overall) or Tampa Bay (third overall) will take Jones. I also believe Colorado takes Nathan MacKinnon first overall.

CBC.CA/NBC SPORTS PRO HOCKEY TALK: NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman warns the Phoenix Coyotes could be moved this summer if a new lease agreement for the club isn’t soon resolved by the Glendale City Council. The details of the proposed agreement have been posted online, which appear heavily tilted in favor of prospective owner Renaissance Sports and Entertainment.

TSN.CA: The Anaheim Ducks have re-signed defenseman Ben Lovejoy to a three-year, $3.3 million contract.

BUFFALO NEWS: The Buffalo Sabres have re-signed defenseman Mike Weber to a three-year, $5 million contract.

CSNBAYAREA.COM: The San Jose Sharks have re-signed defenseman Jason Demers to a one-year, $1.5 million contract.

ALLACCESS.COM: An Arbitron study of NHL radio ratings in the United States. (Hat tip to “Cobra” for the link).

NBC SPORTS PRO HOCKEY TALK: An agreement for NHL participation in the 2014 Sochi Olympics could be finalized by Monday, July 1.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Told you they’d get a deal done.

USA TODAY: Nashville Predators GM David Poile will be the GM of the US Men’s Olympic hockey team, and Pittsburgh Penguins coach Dan Bylsma has been tapped as their head coach.

The Coyotes should have been moved 2 years ago, just do it stop the pandering enough already. How many teams actually made money this year?? LOL. Too many teams too many crap players.Too many franchises no solid free agent wants to play for.Let’s get some European franchises in the mix, about time isn’t it?
