DETROIT NEWS: The Red Wings suffered a humiliating 7-2 defeat to the lowly Montreal Canadiens in last night’s only NHL contest.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: It was obvious the Wings had mentally checked out for the All-Star break in this one. Fun fact: At one point the Habs had a six-goal lead over the Wings, and the last time there was a six-goal spread in a Wings-Canadiens game was December 2, 1995, a date which lives in infamy in Habs history. See if you can guess why without Googling it.
TORONTO STAR: Damien Cox believes the Sidney Crosby-Alexander Ovechkin rivalry is over, due to Crosby’s career-threatening concussion injuries and the decline in Ovechkin’s performance.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Good luck getting Thomas to talk about it. If he doesn’t want to discuss it further, he won’t, and the media will have to find something else to write about.
OTTAWA SUN: All-Star captain Zdeno Chara won’t say who he’ll select with his number one pick in the All-Star draft.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Please pick a Sedin, please pick a Sedin, please pick a Sedin…;)
CHICAGO SUN-TIMES: Adam L. Jahns profiles Marian Hossa, the unassuming star of the Blackhawks.
