THE WASHINGTON POST: New Capitals defenseman Matt Niskanen was formally introduced to the Washington media yesterday. He’s coming off a hectic two weeks which included his marriage and signing a lucrative new contract with a new team.

STLTODAY.COM: Steve Ott is happy to re-sign with the Blues, saying they were his top choice.

DALLAS MORNING NEWS: Stars forward Rich Peverley recently spoke about his recovery from a cardiac event suffered during a game last season. Peverley said he’s feeling better and working toward returning to action, though he’s uncertain when that could be.

THE BUFFALO NEWS: The Sabres have signed 2014 first-round pick (second overall) Sam Reinhart to a three-year, entry-level contract.
