Updates on Halak and Oshie, Red Wings close to re-signing two player, TV contracts could factor into CBA talks, the Islanders could move to Brooklyn, and more.

Blues & Oshie heading to arbitration?

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Halak should be good to go if the season begins on time this fall. Oshie and the Blues could still reach agreement on a contract prior to Friday’s hearing, but the fact GM Doug Armstrong is heading to Toronto a few days prior to the hearing doesn’t bode well for that possibility.

DETROIT FREE PRESS: New contracts may be coming soon for Red Wings forward Justin Abdelkader and defenseman Kyle Quincey.

DENVER POST: Adrian Dater wonders if Matt Duchene’s new contract might be affecting the Avalanche’s contract talks with Ryan O’Reilly.

LAKINGSINSIDER: Rich Hammond reports Dwight King’s new two-year contract with the Kings is worth $750K per season.

But it was painfully obvious Modano stuck around too long in his final two NHL seasons. It’s time for him to turn the page.

NEWSDAY: Steve Zipay suggests the NHL’s lucrative television contracts, something they lacked during the last lockout, could have an effect upon CBA negotiations this time.

SPORTING NEWS: Chris Botta on how Long Island’s reluctance to build the Islanders a new arena could see the team moved to Brooklyn when their current arena lease expires in 2015.
