Can Sergei Bobrovsky carry over his Vezina-winning performance into next season?

ESPN.COM: Paul Grant wonders if Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky can carry over his Vezina Trophy-winning form into 2013-14, especially with the Blue Jackets moving into the Eastern Conference.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: With that Vezina Trophy and a lucrative two-year contract, Bobrovsky will be under considerable pressure to prove last season wasn’t a fluke. Ultimately, the Blue Jackets playoff hopes rest on “Bob”, and if he struggles, things could get ugly in Columbus.

SI.COM: Allan Muir reports term, not dollars, is the holdup in Alex Pietrangelo’s contract talks with the St. Louis Blues, as GM Doug Armstrong might prefer a short-term “bridge” contract.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: It could take compromise to get this sorted out, perhaps a 3-4 year deal.

TRIBLIVE.COM: Being passed over for Canada’s Men’s Olympic orientation camp is yet another indication of how far the stock of Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury has tumbled.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: This could be yet another blow to Fleury’s confidence, or he can use it as motivation to silence his critics. Should be an interesting season in Pittsburgh.

STLTODAY.COM: Former Blues forward David Perron believes he had been misunderstood during his six years in St. Louis. Perron was dealt earlier this summer to the Edmonton Oilers.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Oilers fans may be more understanding, especially if Perron can shake off the inconsistency which dogged him at times during his years with the Blues.

NBC SPORTS PRO HOCKEY TALK: New Jersey Devils GM Lou Lamoriello had nothing new to report on his contract talks with RFA forward Adam Henrique.

CBC.CA: Detroit Red Wings forward Jordin Tootoo will be touring Nanavut communities to talk with youth about setting and achieving goals.

TSN’s Darren Dreger yesterday reported the LA Kings avoided salary arbitration  with Trevor Lewis by agreeing to a one-year, $1.325 million contract.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: You can find the updated salary arbitration schedule here. So far, there’s been no arbitration hearings.

THE BUFFALO NEWS: The Sabres yesterday re-signed forward Luke Adam and goalie Matt Hackett to one-year contracts.

NORTHJERSEY.COM: Andrew Gross with his list of this summer’s free agent winners and losers.

YAHOO! SPORTS: The Anaheim Ducks could be returning to their original moniker “Mighty Ducks” as part of their 20th anniversary commemoration.

These people are adults. They are also PROFESSIONAL athletes. I am tired of hearing about Fleury’s confidence and mental state. If he (or anyone else) is unable to handle these kinds of things then I would want them off the team ASAP. This is not kindergarden and these are not siz year olds. Grow up or get out.

What number is a siz year old anyway?
