Penguins coach doesn’t expect Evgeni Malkin will have difficulty returning from Russia.

TRIBLIVE.COM: Pittsburgh Penguins coach Mike Johnston is traveling to Moscow to meet with Penguins star Evgeni Malkin. Despite growing tensions between Russia and the United States, Johnston doesn’t expect Malkin will be prevented from joining his NHL club this fall.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: This isn’t the Cold War. It won’t affect Russian NHL stars from rejoining their respective clubs when training camp opens in September. 

NBC SPORTS:  Colorado Avalanche VP of hockey ops Joe Sakic doesn’t foresee any difficulties in re-signing RFA defenseman Tyson Barrie.

NEW YORK POST: The New York Islanders have re-signed third-string goalie Kevin Poulin to a one-year, two-way contract worth $650K at the NHL level.

DALLAS MORNING NEWS: Stars GM Jim Nill is using advanced stats to build his club.

BOSTON GLOBE: The Bruins have signed former Colorado Avalanche head coach and former Buffalo Sabres assistant coach as an assistant coach. The club also announced the re-sign of defenseman David Warsofsky to a one-year, tw0-way contract worth $600K at the NHL level.

TORONTO SUN: The Los Angeles Kings are being sued by two grandparents for ruining their sex life after the grandmother was struck in the head by a stray puck at the team’s Icetown facility, where their granddaughter’s birthday party was being held.
