NHL Morning Coffee Headlines – July 28, 2012.

Rick Nash glad to put waiting on a trade behind him, Claude Giroux blames injuries on Sidney Crosby, IIHF suspends Ryan Getzlaf, former Capitals coach played role in Hurricanes signing Alexander Semin, and more.

NBC SPORTS PRO HOCKEY TALK: Former Columbus Blue Jacket Rick Nash is glad to have the past five months of awaiting a trade behind him. Nash was dealt to the New York Rangers earlier this week.

CSNPHILLY.COM: Flyers center Claude Giroux blamed the wrist injuries he received in this year’s playoffs on Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby slashing him on the wrists during faceoffs in the Flyers-Penguins opening round series.

Giroux blames Crosby for wrist injuries.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Strong accusation there from Giroux. In the meantime, Crosby is declining to comment. All this does is stoke the hatred between the Flyers and Penguins, as well as their fans.

SPORTSNET.CA: The IIHF has suspended Anaheim Ducks center Ryan Getzlaf one game for a kneeing incident in this year’s World Hockey Championships.

CSNWASHINGTON.COM: Chuck Gormley reports Carolina Hurricanes GM Jim Rutherford spoke with former Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau at the entry draft regarding Alexander Semin. Boudreau’s feedback, along with those of other former coaches and teammates, were instrumental in the Hurricanes successful pursuit of Semin.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: With Boudreau now coaching the Ducks in the Western Conference, it can’t be suggested this was a cunning plan on his part to screw the Hurricanes. Besides, a change of scenery and teammates may be just what Semin needs.

NORTHJERSEY.COM: Devils GM Lou Lamoriello isn’t rushing into a “Plan B” to replace departed captain Zach Parise.

DENVER POST: The start date for ex-Avalanche forward Steve Moore’s lawsuit against Todd Bertuzzi and former Canucks coach Marc Crawford has been changed to January 28, 2013.

  1. Crosby did it because he just doesn’t like anybody on their team.

  2. Uh oh, who’s the whiner now? I love Claude Giroux, but come on. Crosby is not the first player to ever slash someone. It happens every game.

  3. Doesn’t eveybody want a Crosby souvenier ? Can’t wait for the 1st match up between these teams !

  4. Maybe Claude should email Logan Couture about exercises to strengthen his wrists….

    • i laughed.

  5. Maybe he hit it off the bathroom sink?

  6. He’s hardly whining about it. He basically just said what happened.

  7. It’s also important to remember that while Crosby is a star with a number of fans, he also has a number of haters (myself included). Aside from growing the Flyers/Penguins feud, it adds fuel to the fire for us haters.

In closing, screw Crosby. He’s a dirty player & etc…

    It is what it is.

  8. Sounds more like Giroux hit his “head” on the bathroom sink. What,is he losing it or something? I guess some people will do just about anything for attention, and he is obviously starved for it, even if he is on the cover of a Sports mag. What a child! What a child!!!

  9. i do seem to remember crosby take two shots to the head and didnt call out or whine about it.giroux please turn in your man card.womens restrooms to the left please.
