Re-signing Quick top priority this off-season for Kings.

LOS ANGELES TIMES: Helene Elliott believes the future is bright for the 2012 Stanley Cup champion Kings, while Lisa Dillman feels the club’s top off-season priority is re-signing playoff MVP goalie Jonathan Quick, who has one season remaining on his contract.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: With a Conn Smythe trophy and a Vezina nomination on his resume, Quick is in line for a significant raise above the $1.8 million per season on his current contract. Probably at least in the $6 million per season neighborhood .

NJ.COM: The cash-strapped New Jersey Devils raked in over $32.3 million in playoff revenue this spring.

ESPN.COM: Craig Custance lists the Kings among his favorites to win the Cup next season, but ranks them behind the Boston Bruins, Vancouver Canucks, Pittsburgh Penguins and NY Rangers, citing the inevitable playoff hangover.

NEW YORK POST: Larry Brooks bemoans how parity has become a parody in the NHL, leading to this year’s Cup Final featuring a sixth seed against an eighth seed, overlooking the fact it’s the first time under the current CBA two lower-seeded playoff teams faced each other in the Final. It was also only the third time in seven years at least one Cup Finalist was a lower-seeded club.

    After this year and playoffs, Quick was gonna get paid anyway, but from 1.8 to $6mil is a raise I’d like to get.

    Larry Brooks says……
    He’s just whining because the Rangers were beaten. I find anything he writes to be very shortsighted and self absorbed in his own feeling “intelligence”. I don’t particularly like Torterella, but I love how he smacks “Brooksie” around.
