NHLPA reveals 31-player negotiating committee, agree with NHL on next season’s cap ceiling, Blues re-sign Hitchcock, Elias denies swiping Kings Cup-winning puck, and more.

THE GLOBE & MAIL: The NHLPA yesterday unveiling its 31-player negotiating committee, representing the diversity of its membership. Among the group are stars like Henrik Zetterberg, Shea Weber, Shane Doan and John Tavares, as well as university alumni like George Parros (who has an economics degree from Princeton), plus two Harvard products in Dominic Moore and Craig Adams.

TORONTO STAR: The NHL and NHLPA have reportedly agreed to a $70.2 million salary cap ceiling for 2012-13.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: None of the members of this committee were directly involved in negotiations during the last lockout. NHLPA director Donald Fehr is also promising the membership will be more informed than in the previous round of CBA talks, adding any player is welcome at any negotiating session. Should add an interesting wrinkle to the upcoming CBA negotiations.

Blues ink Hitchcock to contract extension.

STLTODAY.COM: The Blues have signed head coach Ken Hitchcock to a one-year contract extension to 2013-14, with a mutual option for another season after that. Hitchcock won the Jack Adams trophy as NHL coach of the year, guiding the Blues to a second overall finish in the Western Conference standings.

NEW YORK POST: New Jersey Devils forward Patrik Elias denied swiping the game puck from Game Six of the Stanley Cup Final. The LA Kings, who won the Cup in that game, have been seeking the missing puck for some time.

DALLAS MORNING NEWS: Former Stars center and current New York Ranger Brad Richards will be among several athletes posing nude for ESPN The Magazine’s fourth annual “Body” issue.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: So, for all you Brad Richards fans who always wondered what he looked like in the buff, there ya go.

TRUEHOCKEY.COM’s Andy Strickland reports via Twitter the New Jersey Devils have re-signed Cam Janssen to a one-year, two-way contract worth $575 K.

TBO.COM: The Tampa Bay Lightning have re-signed defenseman Brendan Mikkelson to a one-year contract.
