Doan could face suspension.

DALLAS MORNING NEWS: The Stars edged the Phoenix Coyotes in a shoot-out 4-3 to take over sole possession of first in the Pacific Division. Coyotes captain Shane Doan is expected to face suspension for a blatant elbow to the face of Stars forward Jamie Benn.

MIAMI HERALD: The Panthers gave starter Jose Theodore the night off, and it paid off as backup Scott Clemmensen made 35 saves en route to a 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers. It was the Panthers fifth consecutive win, giving them a five-point lead over the idle Washington Capitals for first in the Southeast Division with a game in hand. If Panthers fans aren’t getting excited by now, they should be. Barring a stunning collapse over the next ten games, the Panthers will clinch a playoff berth for the first time since 2000. And don’t scold me about  potentially “jinxing” them!  Only a tiny mind buys into such baseless voodoo.

LOS ANGELES TIMES: Anze Kopitar and Mike Richards each had a goal and two assists as the Kings downed the San Jose Sharks 5-2, moving the Kings into a tie for eighth with the Phoenix Coyotes, with the Kings having the edge as they hold a game in hand over the Coyotes.

CHICAGO TRIBUNE: Marian Hossa got his 900th career point as the Blackhawks won their fourth straight game, downing the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-1.

THE TENNESSEAN: Some guy named Radulov has landed in Nashville.

STARTRIBUNE.COM: A bizarre off-season accident was the start of Devin Setoguchi’s rough first season with the Minnesota Wild.

BOSTON HERALD: Perseverance led the Bruins’ Johnny Boychuk to achieve his dream of becoming an established NHL defenseman.

THE BUFFALO NEWS: Rookie Marcus Foligno has played a significant part in the Sabres late-season push for a playoff spot.

DETROIT NEWS: Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard is day-to-day with a groin injury.

NEWSOBSERVER.COM: Hurricanes rookie blueline Justin Faulk’s rookie season has been a blur.

  1. Doan could?? could?? face a suspension. What does a guy need to do to be suspended? He’s a repeat offender, was just fined for a bad hit and now he throws his elbow up into a guys face. That has to be worth 3 games. I really like Doan, but that was a terrible play.

  2. Don’t Junx the Panth…. Hey, wait a minute!!!!

  3. JINX!!!!

  4. The howard injury is just another set back to a wings team that is struggling. It was talke about how great the signing was of Bertuzzi and really with all the injuries you would expect him to step up his role, but just hasnt. Again our GM sat on his hands at the deadline and did nothing to add depth to this team. Were trying to win with 3 grind lines. Mark my words we will not win another cup with holland as GM. Stuart will be a free agent at years end, lidstrom will more than likely retire, watch holland throw stupid money at Quincey and Stuart.
