Joffrey Lupul sidelined again by injury.

Joffrey Lupul sidelined again by injury.

TORONTO SUN: Maple Leafs oft-injured winger Joffrey Lupul is sidelined again, this time with a groin injury which could be a partial muscle tear.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: These nagging injuries are seriously hampering Lupul’s production. He’d be among the league’s leading scorers if he weren’t sidelined so often. This has to be frustrating for him.

EDMONTON SUN: Ilya Bryzgalov gets his first start with the Oilers as they face off against the Nashville Predators on Thursday.

VANCOUVER SUN: Despite the Canucks recent 1-4-3 slump (including a heartbreaking recent loss to the LA Kings), coach John Tortorella is sticking by his players, refusing to criticize them or single any of them out for their recent struggles.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Tortorella has shown more restraint than he did during his tenure with the Rangers, probably because his temper was a contributing factor in the Blueshirts firing him.

OTTAWA SUN: The Ottawa Senators are number one…in penalties.

LA PRESSE: The Montreal Canadiens are embarking on a grueling seven games in eleven nights stretch.

WINNIPEG SUN: Ken Wiebe sees signs of improvement for the Jets in their recent win over the New Jersey Devils.

CALGARY SUN: Flames fans shouldn’t have to change their viewing habits under the new 12 year agreement between Rogers Communication and the NHL.

The thing that has to change in Calgary with the new NHL agreement is their sportsnet play by play caller. Talk about ear piercing.
