LOS ANGELES TIMES: Kyle Palmieri’s two-straight third period goals rallied the Anaheim Ducks to a 3-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers. Ducks winger Teemu Selanne lost several teeth and suffered a swollen jaw after being accidentally highsticked in the mouth.
NJ.COM: Jaromir Jagr scored his 119th career game-winning goal to lift the New Jersey Devils to a 2-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning. The goal moved Jagr into second place on the all-time game-winning goal list, two behind Gordie Howe. Long-time Devils forward Patrik Elias played his 1, 100th career NHL game.
ARIZONA REPUBLIC: The injury- and suspension-depleted Phoenix Coyotes downed the Los Angeles Kings 3-1 to remain unbeaten in regulation at home (5-0-1) this season. Coyotes goalie Mike Smith made 39 saves for the win. Kings captain Dustin Brown, meanwhile, continues his struggling start, with only two goals this season (none in the last eight games), while his hits-per-game totals have significantly dropped.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: One reason could be Brown still hasn’t fully recovered from last season’s right knee injury.
NEW YORK DAILY NEWS: Benoit Pouliot’s two-point night helped rally the NY Rangers to a 3-2 win over the New York Islanders. New Isles winger Thomas Vanek didn’t register a point in the game.
