SPECTOR’S NOTE: Kane has always been a talented young player, but last season he stepped it up a notch, winning the Conn Smythe as playoff MVP while displaying a maturity which in the past was absent from his play and lifestyle. The best may be yet to come for Kane.
CSNWASHINGTON.COM: Capitals star Alexander Ovechkin escaped injury when a dislodged pane of plexiglass was jarred loose during an exhibition game in Baltimore, narrowly missing the Washington captain. Ovechkin also complained about the poor condition of the ice surface at the ageing 1st Mariner Arena.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Ovechkin and his teammates were fortunate not to suffer injuries due to the poor ice conditions. During last week’s Face Off Hockey Show, we briefly discussed the hazards of playing in the ageing 1st Mariner Arena. This could be the last time the Capitals play an exhibition game there.
