POST-GAZETTE.COM: Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin each had two points as the Pittsburgh Penguins blanked the Washington Capitals 4-0, holding the Caps to just 18 shots.

NJ.COM: Travis Zajac was credited with the winning goal in overtime as the New Jersey Devils rallied to edge the Anaheim Ducks 4-3. “Anaheim’s Ben Lovejoy tried to clear the puck in front of goalie Jonas Hiller but shot it off (Dustin) Penner”. Earlier in the day, the Devils placed forward Rostislav Olesz on unconditional waivers for the purpose of suspending him and giving him his release. Olesz will be moving on to the Swiss League.

LOS ANGELES TIMES: With Jeff Carter sidelined, his linemate Mike Richards is meshing well with new linemates Dwight King and Tyler Toffoli, netting eight points in his last seven games.

CHICAGO SUN-TIMES: Patience is paying off for Blackhawks winger Patrick Sharp in his latest offensive hot streak.

NEWSOBSERVER.COM: After missing 11 games with an upper body injury, Carolina Hurricanes forward Jeff Skinner is itching to return to action.

SPORTSNET.CA: Minnesota Wild winger Dany Heatley is but a shadow of his former high-scoring self, but he’s earned praise from his teammates for how he’s handled his demotion to the fourth line.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Heatley’s days as a scoring star are over,  and it’ll be interesting to see where he lands next summer when he’s an unrestricted free agent.

STLTODAY.COM: After recuperating from an early season upper-body injury, Brenden Morrow is starting to make his presence felt with the Blues.

THE BUFFALO NEWS: Sabres forward Mikhail Grigorenko remains in limbo after the club’s efforts to demote him to their AHL affiliate on a conditioning stint was rejected by the NHL. Grigorenko is supposed to return instead to his QMJHL team (Quebec Remparts), but they’re already at their league-mandated limit for import players.

MLIVE.COM: Detroit Red Wings defenseman Danny DeKeyser will miss 3-6 weeks to a separated shoulder.
