Canadiens pursuing Brenden Morrow?

NBC SPORTS PRO HOCKEY TALK: Ryan Dadoun listed Ilya Bryzgalov, Brenden Morrow, Damien Brunner, Ryan Whitney and Vinny Prospal as five noteworthy free agents still looking for work.

DANS LES COULISSES: cites a source claiming the Montreal Canadiens have invited Brenden Morrow to camp for a PTO (tryout), but Morrow wants a guaranteed contract.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: The Canadiens have $1.866 million in cap space, though they could free up more by demoting a player or two (they currently have 24 under contract, according to CapGeek). If the Habs are interested in Morrow, he’ll have to accept a significant pay cut.

  1. I think a lot of people are over looking Mason Raymond

  2. Totally agree. He should have been signed weeks ago.

  3. I think Raymond also wants a 2nd line role. Many teams will probably be putting him on a third line.

If Raymond thinks that he deserves 2nd line role type of money then his best option would be to sign cheap for a weak team where he would get a lot of minutes.

    • Hello Calgary
