TSN.CA: Carey Price has been named the starter for Canada’s quarterfinal game tomorrow against Switzerland.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Looks like Price has earned the confidence of the Canadian coaches. This will be his third start, compared to one for Roberto Luongo.

CBC.CA: Tim Wharnsby reports Canadian captain Sidney Crosby isn’t concerned over his lack of offense thus far in the Olympic tournament. Elliotte Friedman reports the Canadians are prepared for tight-checking playoff hockey as the tournament progresses.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Lost amid the concerns about Canada’s scoring is they’ve out-performed their opponents thus far in the tournament. As the players continue to develop their team chemistry their offensive game should improve.

CSNBAYAREA.COM: Defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic earned praise from Canadian coach Mike Babcock for his performance thus far in the tournament. Vlasic has earned a regular spot over P.K. Subban and Dan Hamhuis, playing alongside Drew Doughty.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Canadian fans don’t get to see much of Vlasic as he plays with the San Jose Sharks. They should be impressed thus far with what they’ve seen of him in this tournament.

EDMONTON SUN: Oilers forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins continues to pursue his passion for thoroughbred horse racing.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Nugent-Hopkins joins a long line of NHLers who’ve owned race horses or became involved in horse racing in their careers. One, former NY Rangers goalie Gilles Villemure, was a professional harness racehorse driver during the off-season.

CALGARY HERALD: Flames forward Curtis Glencross (knee, ankle injuries) is hoping to return to action before the end of the season.

LA PRESSE: Montreal Canadiens forward Brendan Gallagher was recently honored by his junior team, the Vancouver Giants of the WHL.
