OTTAWA SUN: Senators stars Jason Spezza and Erik Karlsson revealed they were nowhere near 100 percent during the playoffs. Spezza was recovering from back surgery and a knee injury, while Karlsson was recovering from surgery to repair a sliced Achille’s tendon.

TSN.CA: Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson believes he can still play well at the NHL level, but won’t rush into a decision on returning next season.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: It was apparent Spezza and Karlsson were still hobbled by their respective injuries during the playoffs. As for Alfredsson, I still expect he’ll return for one more season.

VANCOUVER PROVINCE: Part of the blame for the Canucks stagnation rests with their scouting department.
