Players for Oilers farm team in Oklahoma narrowly miss devastating tornado, Mikhail Grabovski admits biting Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty, J.G. Pageau shining for the Senators, the Canucks coaching staff remains on the hot seat, and a plan may be in the works for a new arena complex in Calgary.

EDMONTON SUN: Terry Jones reports the Oklahoma City Barons, the farm team of the Oilers, had wrapped up practice at their facility in Moore hours before a huge tornado devastated the community.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: To aid the victims of the tornado, contact the American Red Cross.

MIkhail Grabovski admits biting Max Pacioretty earlier this season.

MIkhail Grabovski admits biting Max Pacioretty earlier this season.

PUCK DADDY: Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mikhail Grabovski admitted in an interview with Dmitry Chesnokov he bit Montreal Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty during a game between the two club last February, claiming Pacioretty was choking him.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: That doesn’t justify biting another player, which he denied doing at the time. That won’t enhance Grabovski reputation in Montreal.

OTTAWA SUN: Rookie forward J.G. Pageau has been a pleasant surprise for the Senators in this year’s playoffs, netting six points in eight games and tying Chris Phillips for the team lead in plus-minus at plus-seven.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: It’s been the Senators depth of promising young talent which allowed them to overcome injuries to key players this season which would’ve waylaid other clubs, has helped the Sens reach the second round of this year’s playoffs, and will make them a league power in the near future.

VANCOUVER PROVINCE: Canucks coach Alain Vigneault and his staff continue to sit in the hot seat awaiting their fate.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Either GM Mike Gillis is taking his time evaluating his options, or trying to find a suitable replacement before firing Vigneault, or intends to bring back the coaching staff next year.

SPORTSNET.CA: Roger Millions reports on plans to build a new NHL arena complex in Calgary.

  1. AV, Newell Brown, Rick Bowness all need to go.

  2. In my opinion, Mikhail Grabovski talks too much. He just sealed his fate as a Maple Leaf and will likely be dealt or bought out. He claims he was choked and forced to bite an opponent to catch his breath..maybe so..nobody knows for sure…but biting is not cool..and openly admitting to it months after the fact can only hurt your team and damage your own league wide reputation.

    • Really? You and Lyle sound like pansies on this issue. I’m not a Leafs fan, but sorry, if someone has their hand in my mouth and is choking me… I’m biting it. I’m sure you would do the same as well.

      • You’re entitled to your opinion, of course, but when you stoop to name-calling, you only weaken your case.
