NHL Rumors from the Blogosphere – October 13, 2011.

In today’s roundup of blogosphere-generated trade chatter: Leafs shopping Tim Connolly?…Are Oilers Sam Gagner and Linus Omark available?…Are the Devils interested in Kyle Turris?

GATHER.COM: Larry Seely claimed “the latest rumor” (citing The Bleacher Report) has the Toronto Maple Leafs looking to move center Tim Connolly later this season, perhaps by the trade deadline.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Connolly hasn’t even made his regular season debut with the Leafs yet! Geez, give the guy a few games before we start suggesting he’ll be a goner by the trade deadline.

HOCKEYBUZZ.COM: Richard Cloutier claims he’d recently heard from “two different people” the Edmonton Oilers are shopping center Sam Gagner and winger Linus Omark in an effort to land a top four defenseman, linking the Oilers to the Maple Leafs (Cody Franson), Ottawa Senators (either David Rundblad or Jared Cowen), Winnipeg Jets (Zach Bogosian), Phoenix Coyotes (Rostislav Klesla or Oliver Ekman-Larsson) and Carolina Hurricanes (Jamie McBain).

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Oilers GM Steve Tambellini last week admitted he’d spoken with some teams but didn’t find anything which suited his needs. No word in the Edmonton media about Gagner or Omark being available, or that Tambellini has stepped up his quest for another defenseman. Regardless, I don’t believe any of the aforementioned defensemen are available. The Leafs landed Franson this summer, and while he’s yet to crack the roster, they’re hoping he’s going to work harder to earn a regular spot. The Senators aren’t parting with those two young defensemen, and the Jets didn’t re-sign Bogosian to trade him away. The Coyotes have no reason to trade away Klesla or Ekman-Larrson, and if the Raleigh News and Observer is anything to go by, it’s Joni Pitkanen, not McBain, who might be available at some point this season.

Todd Cordell claimed he’d heard a rumor being tossed around of the New Jersey Devils perhaps having interest in Phoenix Coyotes holdout Kyle Turris.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Cordell admits he’d only heard this one kicked around, and that he didn’t get it from any source on the Devils or the league. It’s an interesting theory, but given Turris’ current holdout, I don’t think that makes him the kind of player GM Lou Lamoriello would want on his team.

  1. there would be no way the sens would give up either David Rundblad or Jared Cowen for eitherSam Gagner and winger Linus Omark, it would take alot more than that to pry away 2 good young d-men
They can have Kuba and Gonchar for those 2 players

  2. Yes, the Yotes can’t wait to trade a slam dunk defenceman in OEL for a never-has-been and a never-going-to-be. Maybe the Oilers should be going ater Victor Hedman or Adam Larsson instead.

    Ridiculous.

  3. Sensfan the article says rundblad or cowen not rundblad and cowen

  4. Why do you publish this nonsense???

  5. Oilers won’t be trading their good young forwards for any of those want-to-be’s….Unless it’s for a proven, high end defenceman, we’ll hold on to our players, thanks.

  6. I don’t know who this Richard Cloutier is… but if he even thinks that the Senators would trade either Cowen or Rundblad (the futures of their defense) — then he is indeed delusional.

  7. Sandy hes the hockeybuzz, com writer and i swear he just sims seasons of the latest nhl game over and over and picks out different trades… although i still dont think these would work in that even
