The Edmonton Oilers have traded defenseman Nick Schultz to the Columbus Blue Jackets for a fifth round pick.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: The Blues Jackets were in need of a defenseman after losing Fedor Tyutin and Ryan Murray to injury. Schultz, a stay-at-home defenseman, is a pending UFA who had no future with the Oilers. He has declined over the past couple of seasons. Part of that could be from playing with the woeful Oilers. He’ll get a chance to improve his stock with the Jackets.
