Oates becomes Capitals bench boss.

The Washington Capitals today announced the hiring of former New Jersey Devils assistant coach Adam Oates as their new head coach. Oates is no stranger to Capitals fans, having played there for six seasons from 1996-97 to 2001-02.

    I think its a good move – he’s been a part of the coaching staff and was a former caps player.

    I think they should have gone with someone that has more coaching experience. Especially when dealing with players like Ovechkin we’ll see if Oates can administer the tough love when needed.

    This feels good, and I think it will be good for Ovi with a former star player as his coach. Future will tell if it were!
