Kuba joins the Panthers.

The Florida Panthers have signed former Senators defenseman Filip Kuba to a two-year, $8 million contract, or an average cap hit of $4 million per season.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: This move likely signals the departure of Jason Garrison from the Panthers. While Kuba is a good veteran blueliner, who had 32 points in 73 games in a “bounce-back” performance last season, it’s surprising they’ve given Kuba a raise over the $3.7 million per season he made last season. Considering the options in the UFA market, however, they probably had little choice. It’s only a two-year deal, and more affordable than what it would’ve cost to re-sign Garrison.
