Penguins sign Jason Williams.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed former Dallas Star forward Jason Williams to a one-year, two-way contract worth $600K at the NHL level.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: So much for rumors the Penguins are amongst those “seriously interested” in signing Alexei Yashin.

  1. Here is Conner’s replacement. Look for him to start in WBS.

  2. Penguins interested in Yashin? Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

But on a serious note, Williams is the second completely random signing by the Pens after the Sullivan one. After thinking about it, I do think he can bring a bit of experience and a touch of grit and should replace some of the departed very nicely. Not to mention the price and term is dead on. He’s also someone else who could slot into the top two lines if needed on an emergency basis. Hell he may even find chemistry on the 3rd line and put up some decent numbers as well.
I don’t think he’ll start with WBS, but then thats going to be all up to how training camp goes, so time will tell.

  3. For the most part, I think this is a way of telling Letestu and Jeffrey, time to show up on a regular basis. Letestu had a good start and Jeffrey was looking good till the knee so hopefully thats signs of things to come. Letestu running the 3rd line center and Jeffrey tweening the 2nd and 3rd wing.
