The Nashville Predators have shipped forward Martin Erat and prospect center Michael Latta to the Washington Capitals for prospect Filip Forsberg.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Not sure I like this deal for the Capitals. Sure, they get a proven playmaker in Erat, who’s been a consistent 43-58 point performer for the previous eight NHL seasons, and Latta reportedly is close to being an NHL
defenseman center. Erat should provide a short-term boost to their offense down the stretch, and has another season left on his contract. Still, they gave up Forsberg, a highly-touted prospect who is considered by some to be a Swedish Corey Perry. I think the Capitals could regret this move down the road.
