The New York Rangers have acquired forward Daniel Carcillo from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for a seventh round pick in 2014.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: This move appears to be in response to right wing Derek Dorsett being sidelined four-six weeks with a broken leg.

Carcillo has two points in 26 games with 57 PIMs, nearly half that of Dorsett, though Carcillio was a frequent healthy scratch this season with the Kings.

He’ll get his chance to play a regular shift with the Rangers while Dorsett is on the shelf. The Rangers become the fifth NHL team the well-traveled Carcillo has played for since 2008-09.
