Red Wings re-sign Helm.

Helm re-signs with Wings.

TSN’s Darren Dreger reports via Twitter the Detroit Red Wings have re-signed forward Darren Helm to a four-year, $8.5 million contract extension. Helm, 25, was slated to become a restricted free agent. His new deal breaks down as $2.125 million per season. In 68 games last season, Helm had 26 points and a plus-minus of +5.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Helm also suffered a serious forearm injury in the playoffs when tendons were sliced by an errant skate blade, but he’s believed well on the way to a full recovery.

  1. Awesome resigning by the Red Wings. A better version of Draper.
