Red Wings trade Commodore to Lightning.

Commodore dealt to Lightning

Various sources report the Detroit Red Wings have dealt defenseman Mike Commodore to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Details to follow…

**UPDATE** The return is a conditional seventh round pick.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Appears the acquisition last week of Kyle Quincey made Commodore expendable, while the Lightning appear to be adding a little blueline depth to get through the rest of the season. He also has one-year remaining on his current contract at $3.75 million, but it remains to be seen if the Bolts retain him beyond this season, try to trade him or buy out the final year of that deal.  Commodore was bought out of that contract, currently on one-year, $1 million contract. My thanks to everyone for the correction. Busy day!

  1. Lyle, I think Commodore’s contract is at $1.0million! May be I’m wrong….

  2. Commodore’s current contract is 1-year, $1 million. You have $3.75 million in there.

  3. We trade Kubina for a second and fourth then acquire Commodore (who is better) for a 7th. Thank you Mr. Yzerman.

  4. Why would they do this with Big E now hurt unless it’s in prep for something bigger?!?!
