Mitchell to join Avalanche.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Mitchell played 63 regular season and 18 playoff games as a checking forward with the Rangers last season. He’ll likely replace Jay McClement, who is also an unrestricted free agent. He earned $650K on a one-year, two-way contract last season.

**UPDATE** Mitchell’s deal is $2.2 million, for an average annual cap hit of $1.1 million.
