NESN reports the Boston Bruins have acquired defenseman Wade Redden from the St. Louis Blues for a conditional seventh round pick in 2014.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: The Bruins were reportedly seeking an experience puck-moving defenseman. A surprise they went after Redden, but there wasn’t much available on the trade market at affordable prices. I know Bruins fans would’ve preferred Keith Yandle, but the asking price for him was two top forwards. As for the Oilers Ryan Whitney, the Oilers evidently decided to keep him for their playoff push. Redden is reunited with former Senators teammates Zdeno Chara and Chris Kelly with the Bruins. He’s no longer the star blueliner he once was, but his experience could prove valuable down the stretch. Just don’t expect him to play big minutes.

Decent 5/6 guy who can work the second PP. Not exactly worth the hefty contract the Rangers gave him, but better than the minor league he was tossed into for their mistakes.

He still has that great first past as well. Should help the Bruins on the PP..

Glad Redden is gettting another chance in the NHL after being screwed around by the Rangers..
