LA KINGS INSIDER: Rich Hammond reports the Los Angeles Kings have agreed to terms with veteran left wing Ethan Moreau on a one-year contract, which is likely to be finalized on Monday.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: No word yet as to salary, but I doubt he’ll earn more than the $1.75 million he made last season. Looks like the Kings are looking for a little extra grit and leadership for the upcoming season. Before this announcement, the Kings had 21 players under contract, with roughly $9.9 million in available cap space. This move won’t interfere at all salary-wise in the club’s ongoing contract talks with defenseman Drew Doughty.

**Update** His salary will reportedly be $600K.

Good pick-up. Moreau will make a good 3rd/4th line guy.

This makes sense for a young team. It possibly takes a roster spot away for a younger player but for young teams, strong leadership can be just as important as a timely goal down the stretch.
