Various sources report the Los Angeles Kings have acquired Marian Gaborik from the Columbus Blue Jackets. Details to follow.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: TSN reports Matt Frattin goes to the Blue Jackets, along with a second round pick and a conditional third. The Kings acquired Frattin as part of last summer’s Jonathan Bernier trade with the Maple Leafs.

The Kings were in need of scoring depth and should have it with Gaborik, who recently returned from a broken collarbone. He’s a former 40-goal scorer but has been plagued by injuries throughout his career. If he can stay healthy down the stretch he could be a good addition for the Kings, though it remains to be seen how well he’ll fit into coach Darryl Sutter’s defensive system.

It wouldn’t be a stretch for gaborik to fit into sutters defensive system considering he played in the “trap” days of Minnesota for so many years. He’ll survive.
