Report: Paul Gaustad deal to Predators.

Gaustad Gone to Nashville.

SPORTSNET’S Nick Kypreos reports the Buffalo Sabres have traded center Paul Gaustad to the Nashville Predators. Details to follow…

**UPDATE** The Predators gave up a first round pick for Gaustad, but they also get a fourth round pick from the Sabres.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Yes, the Predators overpaid for Gaustad, a pending UFA this summer, but they’re obviously going for it this season and aren’t concerned about giving up a first round pick. Gaustad will provide solid grit and penalty killing at center for the upcoming playoffs, and if he performs well, perhaps they might consider re-signing him.

  1. Good for Nashville,

Gaustad gives them size and toughness up the middle. Could be helpful if they face the Bruins in the finals!

  2. great pickup for smashville. however, i seriously doubt they will re-sign him. he’ll be back in blue and gold july 1

  3. I def think that both Gaustad and AK-46 get contract extensions, Smashvillle doesn’t seem to be in the market for rentals. I like this pick up a lot, even if the cost was high.
