Reports: Osgood to Retire.

DETROIT FREE PRESS/MLIVE.COM: report the Detroit Red Wings called a press conference for today, where it’s expected they’ll announce the retirement of long-time Wings goalie Chris Osgood.

DETROIT NEWS: reports if Osgood does retire, the Wings are expected to sign Ty Conklin as his replacement.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Osgood has won the second-most games of all goalies in Red Wings history, but injuries and age have clearly caught up with him over the past two years. If he does retire, it’s expected he’ll be given a job within the organization.

  1. I would rather sign Turco than conklin

  2. Hey spector do you think Osgood is a Hall of Famer?

  3. RK: Yes, I do, though it’ll likely take him a few years to get in.

  4. I agree, if Pat Burns can’t get in, he is going to have a tough time. Especially with Belfour and Brodeur waiting.
