The Buffalo Sabres have reacquired defenseman Henrik Tallinder, shipping minor league forward Riley Boychuk to the New Jersey Devils.

Henrik Tallinder returns to Buffalo.

Henrik Tallinder returns to Buffalo.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Three years after departing Buffalo for New Jersey via free agency, Tallinder is returning to the team where he played most of his NHL career and where he had the most success.

Tallinder also played with Tyler Myers during the latter’s rookie season and is credited with Myers’ strong performance in 2009-10, when he won the Calder as rookie of the year. Since then, Myers performance has significantly declined, so perhaps Tallinder’s return can help him regain his form and confidence.

As for the Devils, this is strictly a salary dump, removing the remaining year (at a cap hit of $3.375 million) from their books, giving them a little over $7 million in cap space to put toward re-signing Adam Henrique and Jacob Josefson.

One Response to Sabres Re-acquire Henrik Tallinder.

They were trying to milk value out of him but it was just a bad signing through and through. I hope Tallinder regains his chemistry with Myers and gets him going again, but he was not a fit in NJ and that contract was a mistake.
