OTTAWA SUN: Don Brennan reports the Senators have signed former Islanders center Zenon Kenopka to a one-year, one-way contract worth $700K.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: He’ll certainly add toughness, but he’s also good in the faceoff circle, which should help them on the penalty kill. Affordable move.

Great signing…very underrated player…won’t score you many goals…but he was 4th best at faceoffs in the league last year.

  2. Poultsy says:

He was also ranked 2nd among Islander forwards with 52 blocked shots. The guy comes to play every night.

  3. Habsfan says:

!@#$ Wish the habs had picked him….although he is not a Martin type player….still, good signing for the Sens.

  4. Sukh says:

I was hoping the Leafs would have picked him up, at least then someone on the team would be able to win some critical faceoffs

  5. Jay says:

Love this signing. Will add some serious grit to what will be a young team.

  6. Ranzeir says:

I find this signing a bit odd considering they already have Carkner, Neil, Smith and to a lesser extent (two way contract) Francis Lessard signed. My feeling is that Carkner or Neil may be traded at some point. If they can’t beat them on the ice at least they can beat them in the ally…
