Various sources report the Minnesota Wild yesterday dealt forward James Sheppard to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a third round pick in 2013.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Sheppard missed last season recovering from a fractured patella suffered in an ATV accident last summer. This move also marks the third trade in as many months between the two clubs. A once-touted prospect, Sheppard struggled through three seasons with the Wild, and it remains to be seen if he’ll find a place in the Sharks lineup.

A curious move by DW. Sheppard has not shown much so far, but does have size. Must have shown lots of potential and got a good word from Burnzie for DW to give up a third rounder.

The Sharks are hoping that a change of scenery will benefit James.

A former first round pick with a very good minor career can bloom in San Jose.

    San Jose got him cheap.

The only question that can be asked is….

Has he fully healed from his ATV accident and will it deter his future?
