Sharks Trade Handzus to Blackhawks.

The San Jose Sharks have dealt center Michal Handzus to the Chicago Blackhawks for a fourth round pick in 2013.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: I must confess I’m surprised the Sharks found any takers for Handzus. Yes, he’s a big center, but he’s slowed noticeably in recent years, and at 36, he’s coming to the end of his NHL career. Still, the Blackhawks needed depth at center, particularly on their checking lines, and Handzus is an affordable, short-term pickup.

  1. Holy crap Batman! That was a good job by Wilson!

  2. I don’t mind it, good faceoff guy to put in key defensive zone draws and some veteran leadership in the depth role.

  3. Good low risk move by Bowman. Hawks need that faceoff ability, and hopefully he can be the net presence for the second line powerplay that the Hawks desperately need. Should help on the PK as well.

  4. Dang. Wilson is pulling some rabbits out of his hat. I wonder what he’ll be able to get for Clowe

  5. Decent pickup, provides good depth, good at faceoffs.
